DJ DREZ @ BLOOM 2017 Edmonton. DREZ is a Journey into Sound DJ Drez is in demand as a producer, musical director and sound ambassador. A master of his craft in the studio and on stage, Drez cuts and composes profoundly original tracks that facilitate body movement practice of all forms— be it dance, yoga asana or after-hours intimate/ecstatic.  Drez transforms the vibe of any scene his sound is set upon. Rooted in underground L.A. hiphop, Dr. EZ applies precise turn-table skills to a cutting edge vision for truly universal music, intelligently integrating elements of hiphop, world music, soul, funk, jazz, and reggae into his trademark sound and production. Drez’s peacefully determined demeanor makes him a highly sought-after contributor to a variety of dynamic projects. In the midst of a non-stop, world-wide tour schedule, Drez has prepared another solo effort (Alpine Swift, available June 7 via Nectar Drop Music) while simultaneously producing a Sānskrit mantra record with his wife, vocalist Marti Nikko, and a straight-up hiphop album with longtime collaborator, Zaire Black, both expected to be ready for release in 2016. Drez has too deep a resume to mention in its entirety here, suffice it to say he has worked with a who’s who of top artists (Blackstar, KRS 1, Black Eyed Peas, Macy Gray, Eminem, Project Blowed) and organizations (Adidas, X Games, ABC, Okay Player) while maintaining an extensive worldwide touring schedule, variously involving artists like Moby, Ziggy Marley, Common, Femi Kuti, De La Soul, Capleton, Nas, Lee Scratch Perry.

CAROLYN ANNE BUDGELL Carolyn fell into yoga in 1999, while living the ski bum dream in Whistler. It initially provided agility for her snowboarding, skateboarding and trail running. Now, as a teacher in Vancouver, she continually learns how to connect with others and feel at home in one’s skin. The magic of yoga surprisingly grows quieter; towards a place where the physical, the internal, the spectacle and the witness are all one. Carolyn’s vinyasa classes are chock-full of unique alignment cues, smart sequencing, helpful touch and lighthearted jokes to which she pays gratitude to Schuyler Grant, Ana Forrest and Clara Roberts-Oss.  Her passion for silent meditation in forests is thanks to Adyashanti and Michelle St Pierre.  The many years of ‘being on stage’ teach her the importance of stepping back in order to let life happen… to do the work, change the scenery by going upside down, be emotional and then let life continue to happen… and to remember, it’s all okay.  *proud lululemon ambassador

CLARA ROBERTS OSS @ BLOOM 2017 Clara has always found movement to be a way to commune with the divine. She came to the yoga practice from a dance background. Vinyasa yoga had all the components she loved about dance: form with space for your own expression. She started practicing regularly at Jivamukti in 1999. Clara got certified at Sonic Yoga NY in 2003 and began teaching full time shortly thereafter. She moved out of New York in 2006 and landed in Vancouver BC at the beginning of its yoga scene that is now strong in its presence. Clara brought a different flavor of vinyasa to the Vancouver scene and is known as a teacher’s teacher.  In 2013, she created her own school, Lila School of Vinyasa Yoga and has been leading her own 200 and 300 hour programs internationally with the help of Carolyn Anne Budgell, Shiv Oss, Paul Ochoa and Erin Moon. Clara has also taught for MyYogaOnline (now Gaia) since it’s inception in 2008 and is one of the most sought after teachers on the site.

GEHA GONTHIER  B.A., LMT, ERYT, R.Ac. Surviving her first cardiac arrest at 7 years of age, the doctors did not hold much hope for Geha. Through Europe’s integrated medical care, Geha met a doctor that advised her to come off western drugs and use diet and herbs to manage her chronic condition. Over time her condition improved dramatically and inspired Geha to make holistic medicine her life’s journey. She has explored various healing methods for over 35 years, beginning with a degree for movement therapy from the College of Performing Arts in Vienna. In 1980 she was fortunate to study Shiatsu and Oriental Diagnosis with Wataru Ohashi in New York. This marked the beginning of a deep love affair with eastern philosophy, mysticism and medicine. In the following years she studied medical massage at the Swedish Institute of New York, cranio sacral therapy with David Little, nutrition, aromatherapy and different bodywork modalities. Over the last twenty years she has apprenticed with various teachers both in Europe as well as Maui on the subject of Chinese Medicine and herbs. In 2007 she received her Acupuncture Diploma after completing the program at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton. Geha has been practicing and teaching Yoga and Meditation for many years. The results of that are reflected in the gentleness and care she extends to her patients. The focus in her work is the integration of body, mind and spirit, encouraging profound healing in the most subtle levels of awareness.

Sarah zandbeek @ BLOOM 2017 Yoga is everything. Literally everything. How are you eating, how are you sleeping, how are you in relationship, in chaos, in turmoil, in joy.. It is the way we walk the earth and the way we treat it for the earth mimics the Self. It is how you are breathing into this world and how you are allowing the world to breathe into you. It is the way in which you respond to all that is around you, while maintaining the essence in which you are.  Yoga is movement infused with breath -  breath is the healing agent that purifies the body and connects us to all that is more subtle than this physical experience. What is yoga….. it is this, it is that, it is the everything in the nothing and the nothing in the everything. The paradox, the dichotomies, and ultimately it is the context in which everything happens. Yoga is the seed at the bottom of all of this, that is unchanging and ever growing.
